1.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Welfare and various other funds.
2.The American Red Cross.
3.To Write Love on Her Arms.
The third one means a lot to me. If you don't know what it is...you should look into it, here.
Basically, it's a non-profit organization to make people aware of depression, addiction, suicide, and cutting. And to make those same people aware that there are people out there who DO care. There are places out there that may be better than a formal rehab center. And there are other people who feel the same way those people do. I feel like they stand for something good. For something right. And they want to protect the sanctity of life.
In the vision section of the website, the founder of TWLOHA tells the story of how the whole thing started. And at the very end he said this.
"We are only asked to love, to offer hope to many hopeless. We don't get to choose all the ending, but we are asked to play the rescuers. We won't solve all mysteries and our hearts will certainly break in such a vulnerable life, but it is the best way. We were made to be lovers bold in broken places, pouring ourselves out again and again until we're called home."
These people probably have no idea how much these views mirror many things that I believe. I strive to be the kind of person that someone would come and talk to if such a problem arose. So don't be surprised if you see me wearing a couple different TWLOHA shirts.
To write PEACE.
To write HOPE.
To write LOVE.
