Warrior

"Whatever you are physically...male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside." -Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel

Watching your life unfold is interesting. Frustrating. Dazzling.
And not at all how you expect.

There is so much darkness that threatens, at every turn, to overtake you. So many voices, internally and externally, whispering lies.

I think that's why I love the world of Shadowhunters so much. While they live in a world of shadows, they fight the shadows with light. They KNOW they are warriors, because they have been told and trained their whole lives that that's what they are. And no one can tell them otherwise.

They know who they are, and whose they are.

It's so easy for us to get distracted...to let shadows in where they don't belong. At first, their tendrils just slightly start sneaking up. Before we know it, those tendrils have turned into tenticles with suckers that all but refuse to let us go. But we have something that the shadows don't. We have the Light of Christ. And we can wield it just as a warrior wields a battle ax or longbow.

And we must do so. When the shadow world threatens to destroy all you've worked for, you reach deep inside and whomp that shadow's butt through the goal posts of life.

We are warriors! We are not here for smooth sailing.

"Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9

With God on our side, the only way we can temporarily fail, is to fail to put Him in our corner. He's still with us every step...but an army without an acknowledged leader isn't as strong. So acknowledge Him. Trust Him. Pull out your swords and arrows tipped with light, and never ever give up.

*insert battle cry here*
