Here's to you, future Ashley. Future Ashley who doesn't know what to expect, but knows that the thought of being 25 is stupid.
It's not stupid. It's just a number.
Here are some things from the highlight reel.
First off, you're gonna jack up your foot again by trying to train for the Harry Potter 5k. Booted. Wah Wah. BUT, you'll be out of the boot in time to walk the 5k with dad.
Be brave enough to start putting a red panel in your hair. You rebel.
Fall semester, take Math 1050 at UVU and Physiology at BYU. It will be one of the hardest semesters you've ever lived through, but you'll survive with the help of fantastic teachers, friends, family, and hard work.
The Taylor Swift 1989 tour is the closest thing to unicorns puking butterflies and rainbows as you can get.
Tell a boy you like him for the first time, and get shut down. But that's okay. You'll learn many life lessons from this experience and it will make the next time all the easier.
You try online dating.
You take a hard pass on online dating.
Your min pin Turbo dies at the beginning of the year. These are memories you will carry with you to the end of your life.
One of the key players in your life is Marne Zollinger. You two quickly become inseparable and there are many nights of movies, cooking, driving and laughing, adventures, music, and hooliganism.
Marne wins a photo op with Chris Evans at Comic Con....and takes you with her.
YOU MEET CHRIS EVANS.
While discovering things about yourself throughout the year, you discover a deep love for corgis and succulents.
Valentines Day 2016 will be one of the most memorable days of your life. You get to teach a Relief Society lesson on Adversity, you spend the two days before making dozens of treats for the sisters in your ward, and the stake had acquired tickets for the sisters in your ward to go on a bridal tour of the Provo City Center Temple after church. The tour is spectacular, and at the end the Bishop and his wife are there waiting to give you handkerchiefs.
You get to meet Chris Wingert and Al Carraway in one weekend.
You FINALLY get to use your passport and go to Mexico for a whole week. And while there, you get to ride a horse on a beach!!
Jeannie, after years of trying, tells you she is pregnant....and you cry. You call it that she's going to have a girl.
Jeannie and you also try your hand at oil painting and discover your inner Michelangelo's.
You take a CNA class in prep for nursing school. As part of your clinicals, you realize that this really is your calling in life. You were pretty sure before, but this just reaffirms it.
So many good books are read this year. Most notably the remaining books from the Lunar Chronicles and Defy series, and More Than the Tattooed Mormon.
You'll start cooking more--and pulling and using things from your pinterest board. So many wins. Cooking good.
You won't be teaching RS anymore. After getting released from that calling, you'll be called as the RS president. It's overwhelming and scary and not at all what you expected. There is so much that goes into it, and so much more that you can be doing. So, put your whole heart into it. Love the sisters and trust God.
Take the institute class "Women in the Scriptures" from Sister Colleen Terry at UVU. It and she will change your life and your perspective on so many things.
You take the TEAS and Kaplan tests for nursing entrance exams and do really well on them. You are an alternate for one school and land an interview for UVU. It goes really well. And you are waiting in great anticipation to hear if you get in when your birthday rolls around next year.
And you finally get family pictures for the first time since before Kyle went on his mission. Dang you all look goooood.
XOXO, A
